Georg Stefan Troller, born on December 10, 1921 in Vienna, has been working as a documentarist, writer, screenwriter, and television journalist for many decades.
Apart from short visits to his native city, the “poet of the documentary” was lost to Vienna in 1938. His escape to the USA and return to Europe as a US soldier in World War II finally led him to Paris, from where, in addition to the “Pariser Journal” and “Personenbeschreibungen”, he shot numerous documentaries for German TV stations. This documentary focuses on a selection from this treasure of films with which he shaped an entire generation of filmmakers. Georg Stefan Troller shares his approach as a filmmaker and generously lets us in on his motives for design and content decisions, which are ultimately also linked to his own personal history. The film was shot with Georg Stefan Troller in Paris, Vienna and Dachau.
